Jesus' "way" involves walking in his example of community, compassion, and justice. This critiques interpretations of Jesus' way that veer into legalism or exclusion, stressing the importance of embodying his character and love. The way of Jesus invites the disciples to live in connected community that gives a purpose in sharing the Gospel and caring for the marginalized.
The "truth" pertains to Jesus’ worldview, anchoring the disciples in God's absolute truth amid a relativistic world. Jesus spent a lot of time teaching the disciples in parables, stories, and preaching. Moving from a subjective truth worldview to an absolute truth worldview gives us the stability and grounding we so desperately crave.
Understanding the "life" of Jesus involves embracing his sacrificial death and the new life he offers through the Holy Spirit, leading to holistic well-being and rest. This confronts today’s burnout culture. Christians are invited to care for their mental health. New life with Jesus gives us the authenticity and affirmation we are looking for that can only come when our lives are formed into the image of Christ.
